Visa Information

Virginia Tech has three visa options.

  • H1B (non-immigrant, temporary)
  • J1 (non-immigrant, temporary)
  • Green Card sponsorship (permanent residency)

H1B Visa

The H1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. organizations to employ foreign guests in specialty occupations. To obtain an H1B request packet, click here (Word, PDF). Accompanying checks should be made out to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

J1 Visa

Permanent Residency ("Green Card")

Virginia Tech offers a permanent residency program with Green Card sponsorship. Sponsorhip is available for full-time salaried faculty and staff who meet Federal guidelines. See links below for more information.
