For the last seven years, Dr. Harvey has worked as a professor and research scientist in the Department of Agriculture and Agroforestry at the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Ensenañza (CATIE), in Turrialba, Costa Rica. She is currently relocating to the United States, but retains affiliate faculty status at CATIE. Celia is a conservation biologist, with a Ph.D. in Ecology from Cornell University and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. Her research focuses on understanding patterns of biodiversity within fragmented and agricultural landscapes, and in particular, on how different agricultural systems and management practices influence biodiversity conservation. She has led several research projects on the conservation of biodiversity within agricultural landscapes in Central America, and has published both scientific and technical papers on this topic. She is also a co-editor of the book ‘Agroforestry and biodiversity conservation in tropical landscapes’, and a co-editor of the upcoming book ‘Evaluación y conservación de biodiversidad en paisajes fragmentados de Mesoamérica’.
