Farmer-to-Farmer Program for volunteers
USAID’s Farmer-to-Farmer Program (FTF) recruits highly qualified volunteers from the United States to work with farmers, rural organizations, agribusinesses, local non-governmental organizations, market and trade associations, and government agencies active in the agricultural sector. Volunteers work on technology transfer, organizational development, business/enterprise development, financial services, and environmental conservation at various levels of commodity production and marketing chains—rural services and input supply, on-farm production, storage and processing, and marketing. The FTF Program has operated since 1985, placing more than 12,000 volunteers on short-term assignments in more than 80 countries. The new FTF Program is expected to field nearly 3,000 volunteers over the next five years.
