SANREM's mission is to assist in the creation and successful application of decision support methods, information, institutional innovations and local capacity to support participatory sustainable agriculture and natural resource planning, management and policy analysis at local, municipal, provincial and national levels.

SANREM Accomplishments and Lessons Learned Workshop A workshop to share research findings and lessons
learned during Phase II (1997-2003) was held in
Washington DC on June 16th 2004. The presentations
featured results from biophysical and socioeconomic
research, methodological tools and approaches, and
experiences in institutional capacity building that have
potential for transfer and scaling up.

Conference on Interfaces in the Repatriation and In Situ Conservation
of Traditional Crops, University of Georgia, April 30 - May 1, 2004. The
conference objectives were to explore the current scientific and
sociopolitical contexts for new conservation initiatives, the
complementarities between local and global efforts, and opportunities for
synthesis and synergy among key players and approaches. Conference program,
