Through the South-East Consortium for International Development
(SECID), Virginia Tech worked in collaboration with Auburn University
as Management Entity and the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) to
assist the Institute of Rural Economy (IER) in Mali in expanding and
increasing the effectiveness of the country’s farming systems
research and extension program. Activities in economically important
regions were increased, and viable research-extension linkages were
established. Malian personnel were trained to ensure continuity in
research and extension services.
