During the past school year, the Virginia Tech chapter (Gamma Omega) of Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars, has been actively involved in the promotion and recognition of international scholarship, teaching, and service. Since the restructuring of the University Office of International Programs, Phi Beta Delta now enjoys renewed staff support from the new Office of International Research, Education, and Development.

New officers were installed for 2003-2004: Moses Panford, President; Professor Terry L. Clements, Vice President Faculty/Staff; Myrna Ransome, Vice President International Students; Michael Crouch, Vice President United States Students; Thomas Howard, Secretary; Aris Spanos, Treasurer.

The Induction Ceremony for Fall 2004 will be held on Nov 17th, 2004. The application deadline is Oct 20th, 2004.

The Gamma Omega Chapter is also preparing to host a South East Regional meeting of Phi Beta Delta chapters in November of 2004. Through the work of Professor Justo Ulloa, the meeting will be in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA). You can find more information about SAMLA at http://www.samla.org. This will be an important opportunity for planning additional regional collaboration on international projects and activities. more news >>>
