IPM Information
Technologies and Database
GIS can be used to overlay pest, crop, technical,
social, political, rainfall, temperature, and economic
data to provide geographically-referenced databases.
These databases facilitate computerized mapping that aid
in designing pest management systems and impact
assessment.Mapping
pest presence and density advances regional IPM
programs, quarantine programs, export agriculture, and
local eradication programs. It also helps to protect
against invasive pests.
The IPM CRSP supports the
following database project:
Applications of Information
Technology and Databases in IPM in Developing Countries
and Development of a Global IPM Technology Database
