Research Advisor (RA) 

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Research Advisor are:

  • Working with ARARI to identity short-term technical assistance needs and appropriate individuals for research activities;
     

  • Assisting ARARI and participating in preparing annual research work plans, progress reports, field trip reports, research projects, workshops and seminars;
     

  • Participating in appropriate research meetings, conferences, and steering committees;
     

  • identifying institutional bottlenecks and seeking mechanisms to promote research-extension linkage in the ANRS in on-farm research activities;
     

  • assisting and participating in organizing, monitoring, and evaluation of USAID-funded agricultural research activities and making frequent travels to research sites in the project target woredas;
     

  • coordinating and sharing experiences with the representatives of other donor partners supporting agricultural research in the ANRS;
     

  • reviewing research and technical reports prepared by short-term consultants, and facilitating the implementation of recommendations as agreed upon with ARARI;
     

  • Developing and implementing training plans, in collaboration with the Training Advisor, for short and long-term training needs of ARARI;
     

  • preparing instructional modules and guidelines on research methods in selected areas and conducting training for ARARI researchers to strengthen their capability to design and implement on-farm research activities;
     

  • Working closely with the CoP of AMAREW and the extension, watershed management, and training advisors in the integration of project activities.
