Chief-of-Party (COP)

The COP handles the following responsibilities:

  • Supervises the work of the Project’s professional and support staff;

  • Provides leadership in assisting the collaborating ANRS offices;

  • Coordinates the timely provision of short-term technical expertise in accordance with the objectives and general orientations of the ANRS institutions and the annual work plan;

  • Encourages/assists ANRS research and extension staff in the preparation of timely research and extension programs shortly after each growing season in order to identify technical assistance and resource needs as early as possible in the annual crop cycle;

  • Assists in the overall monitoring of agricultural research, extension, watershed management, and human capacity building activities in the ANRS;

  • Serves as the principal liaison with the ANRS partners (FSPCDPO, ARARI, BoARD, and EPLAUA) and USAID/Ethiopia;

  • Participates in technical committees that meet on any matter involving USAID support for agricultural research in the ANRS;

  • Consults regularly with other donors and ANRS research/extension staff to insure better coordination of assistance;

  • Serves as senior technical and administrative advisor for all the components of the AMAREW Project in collaboration with the other professional staff of the project;

  • Ensures that project documents such as annual work plans, annual reports, quarterly reports, and other documentations and publications are prepared and submitted to the appropriate bodies on time;

  • Serves as the chief spokesperson on all matters pertaining to the AMAREW Project in Ethiopia.
