Virginia Tech was the lead university working with the South-East Consortium for International Development (SECID) and Louis Berger International to assist the government of Senegal in an effort to overcome the serious deterioration of Senegal’s land and forest resources. This $12 million effort included training programs in Senegal and the United States, as well as advisory and technical assistance aspects relating to tree planting, forest management policies, a media campaign, and production and marketing strategies for tree crops and products.
