This project is oriented towards the development of innovative research methodologies, tools, and information exchange mechanisms to facilitate natural resource management decision-making at all levels.

OIRED provides programmatic and administrative leadership for the West African component of SANREM (SANREM WA). The highly participatory methodology of SANREM focuses on developing adaptive research and technology transfer programs at the community (landscape/lifescape) level. SANREM WA is currently working with decision-makers at the commune and lower levels in Mali to resolve natural resource and conflict-related problems associated with the unique agricultural and pastoral systems of the region.
